The chapter is open to anyone engaged in intelligence education. Joining connects you to the African network and to IAFIE's global membership.
Eligibility
Who it is for
Academics & educators
Teaching intelligence, security or analysis at a university, college or training academy, whether you run an established programme or are building a new one.
Practitioners & analysts
Working in government, business or civil society, and involved in training, mentoring or setting the standards new analysts are held to.
Students
Studying intelligence or a related field and building towards a career in analysis, research or teaching.

What membership brings
Membership is of the association as a whole, so it carries the global benefits as well as the chapter's own.
Network
A standing connection to the institutions teaching intelligence across Africa, and through the global association to chapters on other continents.
Events
Member rates for the chapter's annual conference and its workshops, and for the global association's conferences.
Knowledge
Reading lists, book reviews and the chapter digest, plus the global association’s curricula, syllabi and teaching materials.
Recognition
The association certifies intelligence studies programmes and individual courses, which is worth something to a department seeking recognition.
A say
Members elect the chapter board and can stand for it. Committee work, publishing and reviewing are all open to members who want them.
What it costs
Categories and dues
Dues are set by the global association and paid to it, not to the chapter. Individuals and institutions both join.

| Corporate | USD 950 | Yes | For-profit businesses supporting the association. Covers five voting members. |
| Honorary | No dues | Yes | Extended by the global board to distinguished individuals. Held for life. |
Dues are quoted in US dollars and set by the global association, which also handles renewals. Memberships renew automatically, with notice in advance. Figures here are a guide, so check iafie.org for the current rates before budgeting.

How to join
Chapter membership is administered by International Association for Intelligence Education. You join the association, and indicate the Africa Chapter as your regional chapter.
If you are already an IAFIE member and want to be counted with the Africa Chapter, tell us and we will add you to the chapter’s list.
Institutions
Bringing a whole department?
An educational or nonprofit membership covers five voting members, which is usually the cheaper route for a department. Write to the chapter and we will talk it through.
